Papa Wei, Our Dad in Spiritual!
「Many people knew that Mama Wei and I will be in “retirement” in the near future and return to US. The reasons I added the quotation marks in the word 'retirement' have two: First, I will not stop working, but just trade the working location. Second, in the Holy Bible, it mentioned that there is only one way of retirement. That is when we have completed the work in this fresh world and are called by the Lord to return to be with HIM. 」 These were the words you told the co-workers of the Village Gospel Mission in December, 1995 just before you and Mama Wei were departing Taiwan. 「I have lived in China for 50 years. I have many good friends here. Therefore, saying good-bye is not easy. 」 It has been more than a decade. We still can remember that when you said this the tears were in your eyes.
You regarded us like children, co-workers, and friends. When we encountered the judgment by the suspicious outsiders or when our services were discouraged by the setback, you always used God’s words to firmly encourage and comfort us. When we were weakly stumbling with mistakes, you had never once loudly reprimanded us. However, you were like a lovely father with compassion using persuasive words to admonish us. Quite often you privately burst into tears for us in prayers. 「Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 」 (1 Corinthians 4:15) You are our respectful father in spiritual. You left us the most precious spiritual properties – living life and examples.
Today, we are still following your steps on Faith to establish glorious churches of Christ among “the impoverished and unprivileged villages in Taiwan”! Your reminders to us during those days are still in our hearts: There is nothing to hinder HIM!
Papa Wei, we deeply thank you for your love! We really missed you very much!
