News Report
1) On December 26, 2001, Chinese Mission 差傳 successfully held an every three year seminar at Philadelphia, Marriott Hotel. There were people that came from 34 US states, and 10 overseas nations that included Canada, Chile, England, France, China, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Scotland, Taiwan, and Singapore. There were approximately one thousand five hundred people registered coming from all kinds of businesses and professions, gathered together at this one Century Hall filling the whole room. Traditionally this seminar has been held in Washington D.C., but this time for the convenience of the East Coast New York churches it was held here. There were numerous visitors that joined us.
2) There were sixty Gospel Mission services in exhibit with all kinds of displays sparkling to each sight. They were compelling and outshining. Many attendants wore custom clothes and showed their pretty smiles, especially 緬甸 whose clothes were very outshining. All the booths displayed their special gifts. One bigger than the other, scientific network & web missions which were really “soundful and colorful”. There were animation pictures, color lightning, stereo equipments, all kinds of displays, chocolate candies, pencils, little toys, Village Gospel Mission tapes, and videos.天鄰 provided big hand bags so that everyone could go home with bags that were full.
3) Village Gospel Mission was booth number 39. There were 60 booths all together. With 5,000 sq. ft. more or less, only a corner of the wall was capable of hanging some pictures. There were three large bulletin boards, hanging against the wall as a background, and a big long table about 8 ft. long stood in front. On top of the table, were custom made pictures and boards introducing local religions, VGM works and services and mission fields. There were also handouts, tapes, and VCD. A big geographical map for Taiwan mission fields was hanging on the walls around the walking area and would be very hard to miss . It was really historical grandeur with double booth spaces and lots of coworkers and representatives from North America for VGM. The only thing we were sorry for was the fact we were not able to wear our custom made clothes because of the weather being really cold there.
4) Board of Directors took a chance in having a Northern American board of directors historical meeting. They found a quiet place but then came the chairman of the seminar elder 黃小石 in patrol. He saw that our little group of people had so many endless discussions on missions and time was close to mid night that he smiled and said, “conference in the conference”. Doctor Lin clarified immediately and said, “conference but no dissension”.
5) Chinese Gospel Mission差傳 Northern American coworkers that joined this seminar were Chris Chen (Northern California), How-Shan Lin & Eunice Lin (Southern California), Pastor Philip Yang (Philadelphia), Chicheng Wu (New Jersey), Chen C Hsu (Maryland), Philip Lee (New York), William Hsu( Massachusetts),and Ming H.Wu, Ruey Jen Wu (Connecticut). They also had a board of directors meeting on 12/27/2001 and a coworkers meeting on 12/28/2001. They met each other in the meetings. The Board of Director reported works in missions this year. The coworkers also reported their works and proposed some suggestions and plans. It was a pity that time was so short and that we could not really have a long talk. We’ll now have to wait for another three years.
